100% certified organic Shea Butter, ethically sourced from women's cooperatives in Northern Ghana, replenishes hair and skin with vitamins A & D and essential fatty acids. This provides multiple benefits - comforts irritated skin, deeply moisturizes dry, cracked skin, hydrates chapped lips, soothes dry, irritated scalp, conditions hair, protects hair from heat, and softens skin and hair.

Use sparingly. A little goes a long way. Natural Shea Butter solidifies below normal room temperature, but will melt in the warmth of your hands.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to use Honestly not a huge fan of this product. There are plenty of other products that I use that have Shea butter in them, but this raw form is a consistency that Im not quite sure how to use. The packaging says that its supposed to dissolve in the heat of your hands, however I find that it does not and stays gritty. This makes it difficult to use in your hair or on your skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very moisturizing, weird texture and smell This is a very moisturizing product. I have used it on my lips, hair, feet and skin. When used in my hair (I have fine hair with a dry scalp), I had to double cleanse my hair to get rid of the oil but it made my hair feel nice and my scalp was less dry. I don't like it as a lotion because of the smell. My favorite use for it is on my feet. They feel amazing after I leave this on them overnight. Word to the wise: it has the look of cottage cheese and the grittiness stays even after it's warmed in the palms of your hands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good enough Didnt love the texture to be honest, but the product did its job so I will take it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ultimate moisture that melts in your hands I have never used raw Shea butter before, but it is unlike any moisturizing product I've used before. I can get the smallest dollop of Shea butter in my hands, and the moisture is immediately noticeable. I love that there is so much product in the container, so I know this will last me for months to come.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been better. When I got the product it was strange because it was like beads with oil. So I melted the product and put it together and honestly pretty amazing. It was able to manage my frizzy hair down. The only problem was besides my hair I had to other use for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good! I like to mix this in with a lotion It's really nice and I really wonderful raw product It's hard to use on its own because of its thickness but it's a really great add-on

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a Huge Fan I'm personally not a huge fan of the shea butter from this company. Because of the very grainy texture, it made it a lot harder to melt and use. It does however make my hair very soft and frizz free. It definitely locked in moisture and kept my curls more defined. I just applied it once a week on damp hair, mainly on my ends. I'm personally not a huge fan of how Shea butter smells but overall, the product was fine. There are better and worse forms of Shea butter out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice product. I was a little hesitant about this product since Im not a big fan of oily type products. Just personal preference, but I dont like the greasy feel of oil or raw butter products. But this sinks into the skin pretty well. Its very hydrating and did a great job hydrating my dry elbows. I dont think I will continue to use this regularly, but I will definitely keep it for when my skin dries out, especially in the winter months. Overall a very nice product.

Is the product supposed to be so grainy? Even after warming it in my hands, it leaves a salty texture on my skin that is uncomfortable.

To resolve grainy consistence you recommend double boiler method. I'm concerned about heat resistance of the plastic pot to the heat as I don't want to remove butter from original packaging. Freezing after complete melting is mandatory?

Asked by: Fontanka
Rubbing between your hands before application should help.

I have been experiencing extremely dry skin due to cold weather, however, I have acne prone skin. I was wondering if this is okay to use as a facial moisturizer?

Asked by: belle
Hi Belle, Using 100% Shea Butter can be used as a facial moisturizer but it can be very oily for some users. We recommend using a small amount at first then adding more if needed.

What is the difference between the plain raw shea butter and the ultra healing raw shea butter?

Asked by: Tammy
All of the raw shea butter used in our products is Handcrafted, unrefined by our Community Commerce cooperatives . Hand crafting preserves more fatty acids than industrial processing, so it is considered a better quality ingredient.

I just bought this, and it is all grainy and crystal like (kind of like a face scrub). The one I bought before was smooth and hard, like butter. What is wrong with it and can I still use it?

Asked by: Kandi99
Shea butter can vary from completely smooth, to slightly grainy, to very grainy and a little oily. All of these are normal variations, and none of them affect the efficacy of the shea butter. If the shea butter cools quickly, the solids don't have time to form crystals, and the butter appears smooth. If they cool slowly, the fatty acids can crystallize into large clumps, which causes the appearance of graininess. Regardless of appearance, the butter should be warmed in the hands until melted, then applied to skin. When shea butter is used, however, all of the fatty acids remelt to do their work, so the grainy appearance at room temperature is not relevant. We also recommend placing the container in warm/hot water to smooth out the texture.

I like the benefits of this product but unlike most SM products, I really do not like the smell of this one... Would I be able to add an essential oil to this product to complement the scent or mask it?

Asked by: Liv Bee
Yes! We recommend using one of our essential oil blends to add a wonderful scent to our 100% Raw Shea Butter. Please see here: https://www.sheamoisture.com/products/beauty-hack/fragrance.html
