Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality and Formula Changed This used to be my go to gel. Back when glycerin was in the top ingredients, my hair was left shiny and defined. This new stuff with magnesium silicate as the second ingredient leaves my hair dull and lifeless. Please go back to the old formula. And please change your website information because the ingredients do not match the new bottles I received.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible This product did virtually nothing for my hair. I tried it alone and with the argan/almond milk leave-in (which is great) and it left super tiny white flakes all throughout my hair which I only noticed because of how dull my hair looked. I love other products in this line but not this one. zero stars if possible

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No hold, no shine This product promises hold, shine, and frizz control. Sadly it did not deliver any of those things on my 3c hair. Upon application this product begins to set almost immediately. Usually I run my fingers through my hair as I apply gel; with this product that is impossible. I find that this product offers minimal hold and adds no shine to my hair. My day 1 hair is only somewhat less fluffy than product-free hair. I don't even get day 2 hair with this product, making it a complete fail in my book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from frizz free and smells amazing I used this on my 2C hair , applied after drying just to the point of not dripping and then partially blow dried, allowing my hair to air dry the rest of the way. I was frizz free and had no crunch. I am confused by some of the other reviews, I had no problem distributing this through my hair and do not understand why anyone is trying to comb their hair after putting in this gel??? I'm also not sure why its called gel-cream, it has a normal gel consistency, no creaminess. The best part is that it smells amazing, very fruity with a hint of cinnamon. I liked it so much I bought the body wash too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My hair looked great for the day I like the way this product spreads through my frizzy 3B curls. And I really like the way my hair looks after using it. It controls frizz and defines curls very well. The fragrance is pretty, but VERY strong. The product says it has lasting hold, but I disagree. The hold was very loose, even with some gel added to the ends, and it only lasted one day. If you prefer soft curls with no stiff hold, then this product is definitely for you. If you, like me, prefer a strong hold that will last at least two days, then I recommend the Coconut and Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I thought but it still has a purpose! I have 3b low porosity hair. I was trying this out based on other reviews to see how this would hold up in my hair. It smells good but it has ZERO slip, which I don't like at all. It's very difficult to distribute this through my hair - my hair seems to clump together in strands. However, what I have discovered is that this is good if you want to brush your hair back into a ponytail during a hot and humid day. My method is to only use the product for the top of my head (the part that will actually be brushed back). Then, for my actual ponytail, I use one of products in the Superfruit line (the best line for 3b/3c low porosity hair, in my opinion) to fluff out the curls so that they're shiny and can move freely without being crunchy. My guess is that this product works well for someone with 2a-2c hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gel I'm a wash-n-go girl and usually after a few days will turn the do into a twist-out. The product smells good but flakes. Products that do that, are immediately crossed off my lists.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PRODUCT Where to begin... I bought this product since I was recommended to use gel for the frizz from my highly porous hair in Miami, so I thought this one would do the trick it's a gel cream and my hair is very dry. Wrong!!! As soon as I put the product on my hair, it turned a very strange and hard texture, knotted all of my hair and I couldn't get a comb through it at all. I had to wash my hair twice to get it all out. I don't know if I got a bad bottle, I only used a dime sized amount, but it was a horrible experience. I went right back to my devacurl supercream. The good thing is that the mongongo shampoo seemed to help a lot so the frozen calmed down and no longer need to experiment for a gel.

Could this product be used to style two strand twists? If not, what product would you recommend for styling low porosity, protein sensitive hair

Asked by: Coco
Hi Coco, The Raw Shea & Cupuaçu Frizz Defense Styling Gel Cream is a great option for two-strand twists, especially for low porosity hair as it does not contain any protein. Please check out the remainder of the collection for other products that work well with low porosity hair: https://www.sheamoisture.com/products/hair.html?product_collection=258.

Hi I recently purchased the Raw Shea&Cupuacu frizz styling gel. I apply it after my leave in condition and curling cream. However white bits form in my hair after I apply it. What am I doing wrong ?x

Asked by: Bukk
Hi Bukk You may be using too much product after your conditioner. Recommend either using a curling cream or styling gel as your styling option as opposed to both.

Does this gel have more or less hold than the Jamaican castor oil gel?

Asked by: Chris
Hi Chris, The formula of the Raw Shea Cupuacu Gel is thin. If you have thicker hair then the JBCO gel would better suit for your hair. It is a thicker more jelly like formula.

I purchased this styling gel and when I put it in my hair it makes my hair feel stiff and matted. When it dries it feels soft but course. It's also a brown color. Is this normal? I use the multi-vitamin gel and feels completely different.

Asked by: Lisa
Hi Lisa, We recommend using a product that works for your hair. If the SuperFruit Multi-Vitamin gel feels better in your hair we suggests not using the Raw Shea Cupuacu gel. Also, you can also try using the High Porosity Gel Cream.
