Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don’t recommend I used it in my hair and my scalp was getting a burning sensation it traumatizing. Then my sister tried it and literally this condition had he hair smoking like steam was coming off her hair and I had to keep putting water on it cus I didn’t know if it was burning the relax hair or what. Don’t buy this. The chemical in this is not good for the relax hair. I even lost a lot of hair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Changed formula, doesn't work anynore for me I've used this product for many years and it worked great for my dark blond curly hair and also on my daughter's straight blond hair. But, as many people have remarked, the formula has changed and it consists now mostly of alcohol and olive oil. In the old formula the first 2 ingredients were shea butter and argan oil. My curls don't look and feel as healthy and shiny anymore, my hair feels sort of sticky/brittle and gets oily quickly and I lose a lot of hair. So I won't buy this product again unless the formula is changed back. PLEASE, that would make my hair and me very happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Formula change ruined my curls !!! This was my one and only product since my curly hair journey started about 3 years ago. It kept my hair silky soft, curls tight, and smelled amazing. I’m am late in realizing the formula change as I was such a loyal customer I would always grab, buy, and go. I usually bought 2 bottles of shampoo and conditioner at a time. I alway knew what I wanted. Slowly over time my hair became so dry and brittle and tangled/knotted from the dryness. It took me some time to put together why. I also used this on my children’s curls and the same happened with their hair. I was using this to wash and as a leave in. By the time I figured out the problem I had to cut my curls and my daughters from all the damage done. Now I’m starting over and think I finally may have found another great protein free product (different brand) and my curls are slowly bouncing back. I won’t ever buy this again. I feel the least that could have done would be a label on front of the bottle that said “formula change” or “now with protein” so I could have changed products sooner. Something to help point their loyal customers in the right direction. This would have been so helpful. They only showed a lack of care and responsibility towards faithful clients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brought back to life my 1A bleached hair I picked this up at a store kind of randomly, knowing it wasn't adapted to my hair type, mainly because I'm tired of the chemical stuff. But surprisingly, this has worked wonders for my straight and platinum blond bleached hair. It used to be brittle and dry, but this conditionner has truly brought it back to life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor packaging and poor product Difficult to use container - spring too tight to get more then a little conditioner to come out of bottle - if I remove dispenser pump the bottle is too rigid to squeeze product out into my hand - my hair is not feeling well moisturized from this product (when I can get it out of the ridiculous bottl)!! Won’t buy again and returned bottle to store for a refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So sad they added protein I've been using this on my daughters hair for 4yrs and now the formula has been changed to add, not one, but two different proteins! I know I am not the only one upset about this.... PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL FORMULA

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality has diminished This used to be my favorite product but they’ve changed their formulas for most of their line and the products just don’t work the same anymore. The old formula for this used to be my favorite. Will have to find another brand to support, SM isn’t listening to their core customers

From where is your behentrimonium chloride sourced? Plant or carbon-based? Why add this chemical? I understand its use as a conditioning agent, but C25H54ClN does not readily degrade in nature. It's a potent environmental pollutant.

Asked by: The Chemist
Behentrimonium chloride is an excellent hair conditioning and anti-static ingredient. While there are internet rumors that the material is toxic at those concentrations, we have found no scientific studies that show cell death in eye mucus membranes. Per the Material Safety Data Sheet of our ingredient, it is non-irritating to skin and non-flammable. In fact, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety says “the use of behentrimonium chloride does not pose a risk to the health of the consumer under the following concentration limits: Rinse-off hair care products up to 5.0% & Leave on hair care and facial cream products up to 3.0%.” We use the material at well below these levels, so it is safe and effective.

Hello I noticed i’m not the first to ask, but when are you guys going to bring back the previous formula? After my hair started getting dry and tangled I hunted down an old version and within 3 days was amazing again. Nothing else works for me!

What happened to the old formula with the “dry damaged hair” on it. I’m guessing it was changed due to profit margines. I’m not sure there is any other reason to change perfection. I would gladly pay more for somthing no other company makes!

Asked by: Jayh
Hi Jayh, Products are updated to provide the highest efficacy of a product. The current formula provides the best moisturizing and nourishing benefits to bring health back to hair.
