Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes my hair so soft! I've been struggling to find a conditioner that doesn't just evaporate out of my DRY 4b hair... This conditioner really helps me detangle and moisturize my hair <3

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very drying I've had my 3A curly hair natural and heat-free for eight months when I decided to try out this conditioner. At first, it seemed to work very well. However, after a few weeks of using it, I noticed my hair began to feel very dry and actually started breaking off. I had just gotten a haircut, and my hair is damage-free, so I was struggling to find an explanation. I have since switched to a more moisturizing conditioner and have noticed rapid improvement. I even steamed my hair to try to introduce more moisture and noticed improvement. I would guess that this product contains too much protein, and that's why it caused so much breakage and dryness for me. My hair was frizzy and felt like straw, which had never happened to me before. Be very careful with this product, and if you notice anything off, it's not you, it's the conditioner! I actually lost a lot of hair volume, but luckily I am on the path to recovery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So dry :( This conditioner left my hair super dry when I leave to air dry. It's like I don't condition at all :( I use two pumps and feel as though that may be enough but possibly not?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hair Fall like crazy Honestly, I didn’t imagine my first ever silicone free conditioner and co wash day to end with a burning scalp, super porous and gummy hair and so much hair fall more than on any other wash day. I had to jump back into the shower and rinse it out as far as I could because I couldn’t detangle it no matter how much product I applied. Straight back to the shop tomorrow and I will never use this brand ever again!!! After removing damaging products and styling methods to restore my hair, Shea Moisture honestly feels like a chemical treatment meant to burn your sculpt off. DO NOT BUT ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HATE THE NEW FORMULA Will be looking for a new natural hair line now. Hate the new formulation. Myself and three girls used them and will be NO LONGER. If you don't change back to the old formula and soon, you will be losing lots of dedicated customers as we will find new product lines we love and support.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don’t recommend I used it in my hair and my scalp was getting a burning sensation it traumatizing. Then my sister tried it and literally this condition had he hair smoking like steam was coming off her hair and I had to keep putting water on it cus I didn’t know if it was burning the relax hair or what. Don’t buy this. The chemical in this is not good for the relax hair. I even lost a lot of hair.

Are you going to change back to the original formula? If not you are losing a lot of customers, everyone I know is no longer using this product until the old formula returns.

Asked by: Sheda B
Any changes you see to our ingredient lists have been done to more closely align with different regulatory requirements – but never efficacy.

Why was a great formula changed? I loved your old formula like many others. You added sodium benzoate as a preservative which I am allergic to. Now I am so disappointed that I can’t use any of your products. PLEASE listen to your customers change it Back

Any changes you see to our ingredient lists have been done to more closely align with different labeling requirements - not because of formulation changes.

From where is your behentrimonium chloride sourced? Plant or carbon-based? Why add this chemical? I understand its use as a conditioning agent, but C25H54ClN does not readily degrade in nature. It's a potent environmental pollutant.

Asked by: The Chemist
Behentrimonium chloride is an excellent hair conditioning and anti-static ingredient. While there are internet rumors that the material is toxic at those concentrations, we have found no scientific studies that show cell death in eye mucus membranes. Per the Material Safety Data Sheet of our ingredient, it is non-irritating to skin and non-flammable. In fact, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety says “the use of behentrimonium chloride does not pose a risk to the health of the consumer under the following concentration limits: Rinse-off hair care products up to 5.0% & Leave on hair care and facial cream products up to 3.0%.” We use the material at well below these levels, so it is safe and effective.
