Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Burning Sensation I would not describe myself as someone who has sensitive skin. I bought this mask because I like mud masks a lot and also thought it’d be nice to pamper my skin a little. The moment this mask touched my skin it started to burn. I continued to apply a thin layer to my face and by the time I had completely covered my face, my eyes were watering and my skin hurt. Needless to say it ruined the relaxing evening I planned because the burn continued for another hour. I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody, especially someone with sensitive skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for sensitive skin..... feel the burn! This product is NOT for sensitive skin. It's not a tingle or a zesty feel. It BURNS. Great smell but I tried to use it twice, just to give it another go and same effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it!! I have very sensitive dry skin and when I put it on there was no burning.. Only a very pleasant cooling sensation like I put peppermint all over my face. I left it on for 9 minutes and rinsed. My skin is smooth and feels plumper and some of the little bumps I had are gone. Will definitely buy a full sized jar. My husband did it with me and he has oily skin, he said it burned him and he rinsed it off quickly. He does not have sensitive skin, not sure why he had a reaction and I did not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oh the burn! This product is ironic because it says its for sensitive skin but instead it overly irrates the skin to the point that you look sunburnt after use. I would not recommend this formulation and product to anyone especially to someone with sensitive skin. Such a bummer! I hope I am able to return it to the store I got it from. Ugh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic mud mask that isn't too drying Normally I dislike mud masks because I hate that tight feeling on my face as they become dry after a few minutes. I'm already a huge fan of SM's black soap mask for problem skin, so I decided to give this a whirl too. Even though it's a mud mask, it doesn't dry all tight like other mud masks do - it seems to retain some moisture in it so my face doesn't feel tight and stretched. I absolutely love the smell, it smells like roses! As far as the burn, it only burns a little bit on places where my skin is a little dry (like areas where you use benzoyl peroxide or other drying agents like that on a regular basis - for me, it's my chin!). And I didn't even find the "burn" that severe - more like a strong tingle for about a minute, then it goes away. This mask is actually quite soothing, and my face looks so clear & even and feels so smooth after I remove the mask. And the rosy smell lingers for awhile, and I like that :) I still prefer the black soap mask for regular use, but I'll definitely throw this in the mix for some variety once in awhile, it is a very good mud mask.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally in Love With Peace Rose Oil Mud Mask! I absolutely loved the way this product made my skin feel after rinsing it off--sooooo soft. There was a slight burning when I applied it, but it wasn't bad at all. I've used products in the past that were intolerable. The amount in the packet was very generous. It was enough to cover my face, neck, shoulders, and even my hands. Best of all, there was no redness or irritation when I rinsed the product off. This is -very- rare for me. My only complaint is that the fragrance is a little strong. It's not unpleasant or chemically smelling, but it could definitely be overwhelming to someone with a sensitive sense of smell. Otherwise, this is a great product to try if you have sensitive skin like I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baby Soft skin So I bought this product along with the one for acne (which I will do a separate review for). This one definitely burned a little when I first applied it, but the sensation stops in less than 2 mins. I leave it on longer than 10 mins but no more than 30 just to make sure it dries correctly. I have noticed a difference in my skin and its smoothness level is Amazing; not to mention I love the smell!! I will definitely be buying this again and trying new products

Is the mask supposed to burn? I put the mask on and my face started burning. I only had it on for a little bit until I took it off cause of the burn. It did make my skin feeling soft though.

Asked by: Jackie27
Whenever I put it on it leaves my eyes watering and my face burns a bit. After a few minutes that feeling calms down and I'm left with a soft face. It seems as though it burns for a lot of people, but does it's job regardless.

My granddaughter (14) used it and said it felt like she put icy hot on her face. It made her face red.

Please report this to SheaMoisture, they need to know that these products are actually not safe for sensitive skin.

Asked by: Jenna
You face should never burn! That is not normal, especially for sensitive skin products! This line should be reformulated without irritants.

Does this product contain citric acid, parabens, alcohol and frangrance?? All these chemical will trigger a bad eczema face reaction. Thanks!

Asked by: Sandra
Hi Sandra! Good news - all of products are paraben free! This product is also free of citric acid and alcohol. It does however contain fragrance. Our fragrances are not synthetic. We recommend doing an allergy patch test prior to using our products to rule out any irritation or allergy.

Would this product be ok to use on rough and dry skin from a healing sunburn?

Asked by: MissMoe22
I would not.  I have this mask and it left my skin inflamed. I am a huge Shea moisture fan so this is definitely not hate but if your skin is already irritated, and your skin is sensitive, I would avoid it until you have healed fully.  Then test on a small section of skin before using all over.  I wanted to love this but unfortunately it didn't love me.
