Clean but difficult
I have Caucasian 2b/2c curly hair, and this was my first try at co-washing, so maybe I’m just doing this wrong? I was hoping to use this product mid-week, between my regular wash days to revive some bounce (I have really thin hair that gets weighed down easily). However, my hair became piece-y and oily after using this, rather than nourished. You also have to use so much of this product to get it to work. I know it says to massage the product down the hair strand, but with almost no slip it’s so hard to, and I just feel like I’m breaking my hair. I also reeeeeally dislike the smell. It has a chemically, vinegar-y scent that literally sticks around until you wash it out. It doesn’t smell like the other coconut/hibiscus products at all (I’ve used the curl soufflé and body wash before). I couldn’t even get through a full bottle of this before throwing it out:(

Not conditioning or moisturizer
I excpect to be able to at least run my fingers through my hair when I condition my hair and I can’t even do that. I have thick, curly hair and it does nothing to help my curls. If anything, I’ve seen my curls get less coily since using this product. I have to use tons to feel like I’ve gotten anything done. I feel like the only hair type this seems to work with based on reviews I’ve seen is people with think straight hair. I wouldn’t buy this if I were looking for moisture.

I can see why a lot of people might have a negative review.
I have pin straight hair(caucasian hair) That gets an extremely oily scalp but very dry ends.
I use this co wash every other day. And on the days i dont use it i shampoo and condition. Now i see this line is for curly hair but it works for my straight hair.
It moisturizes the ends enough and cleans my scalp VERY well.
I give it a 5 for me. But maybe it should be reformulated to fit a curly girls needs ( i can use any co wash and not have a problem )
The fragrance doesnt smell anything like the other ones from this line. It smells like bath and body works coconut lime verbana is the best way to describe it.

tested this product free via influenster
let me start out by saying the packaging for the hibiscus and coconut is really cute! I love the colors they picked. I received the collection of the hibiscus and coconut to try out for free through Influenster. I liked how the conditioner smelled, but as for the body wash, I felt like it should have been more coconutty rather that the hibiscus. Anyways, I liked all the products, just not enough for me to purchase anything.

Didn't expect much from this products since ive tried many other brands and just do the same as any other conditioner, but this product is the exception!! Definetly saw a difference right after using this product, it left my hair exceptionally moisturized and soft, left my hair smelling great, fell in love with this brand and this product specifically, will continue to use for as long as I can! thank you Shea Moisture for your products, I tested this product for free

Had high hopes for this.
Sadly this is the first product in this line that I have come across that I just didn't like. As reference, I have naturally kinky curly Caucasian hair to my waist. Firstly, it smells nothing like the other coconut hibiscus line. Has a very toxic smell. I had to Re wash. Secondly there is no slip in it, my hair was difficult to comb and that's not the norm. I will stick with the original shampoo and conditioner which I love.

Does your company have a recycling program? I love your co-wash, and am trying very much to rid my life of plastics. I would love to be able to send my empty bottles back to you for reuse.
At this time we do not have a recycling program, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will pass along your feedback to our teams for consideration in implementing something like this.

Is thereally a routine to use for the coconut and hibiscus line, because I have every product through that line and want to know the best way to apply to hair
We recommend experimenting with what works best for you as everyone's hair type and needs are different! Our Co-Wash can be used in between washes to keep your hair and scalp moisturized and cleansed.

Is it safe to use the conditioning cleanser everyday? I intend to use it on the days when I don't do my regular shampooing and conditioning hair care routine. I wash my hair once or twice a week so I would be using the cleaner 5-6 times a week. Thanks!
Yes, you can use this product 5-6 times a week. This product works to gently cleanse scalp and condition ends, and is formulated for use in between washes!

is this product suitable for low porosity hair?
This product contains protein and so is not suited for those with low porosity, we recommend checking out our Sacha Inchi Oil Omega 3-6-9 Rescue + Repair Co-Wash which is protein free and a great option for low porosity hair!

I don’t wash my hair much- maybe 3 times a week at most. Would you recommend I use a clarifying shampoo then this co-wash on the days I wash my hair? I’ve heard from a few stylists that cleansing conditioners are the way to go!
This product can be used alongside a clarifying shampoo or this can be used to gently cleanse in between shampooing. This will depend on your hair type and whether you lack moisture throughout the day.
