Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels great especially with the conditioner I have 4C curls mixed with tight 4b curls so my hair is very coarse and has little spirals. It is hard to keep my hair hydrated but then I learned about this product and I use the shampoo then follow up with the low porosity hair conditioner and it make my hair feel great before completing my daily hair regimen. I do wish Shea Moisture made more products for low porosity hair, cause I love the brand but some of the other lines don’t help my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best shampoo... I cannot find this line anywhere anymore. It did wonders for my hair. It was worth the 30 bucks to buy the shampoo conditioner and leave in. Not sure what happened, please continue making it to sell online if you decide not to put it on store shelves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the finest shampoos! I have fine, but very much low porosity wavy hair and I'm very happy with this shampoo and conditioner. For years I've struggled with dry ends and fizz and I didn't know what to do about till I figured out that my hair is sensitive for proteins. Be aware that if you have too much proteins in your hair and you start using this shampoo, that you might need some time first to get rid of the protein build up. But once your hair is clean this shampoo and conditioner works even better! I love the smell too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution to years of problems No matter how many hair products I tried, my hair was always dry and scalp was flaky. Now my hair is soft and moisturized! Scalp is healthy also. Looks good, smells good too! I have spent lots of money trying to find simple hair products that wouldn't dry out my hair, just to always be disappointed. Not anymore!!! Please never stop making this low porosity line; I would be lost without it! *I have 3b low porosity type hair*

Rated 1 out of 5 by from unsuited smell for a women's shampoo The smell is horrible! Not suited for women at all. I also bought the leave in conditioner...Same awful smell! You should change it for something less strong and masculine. The product in itself is not bad and leaves my hair moisturized and cleaned but that smell...Urggggh!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AAAAHHHHMazing I have horrible temperamental frizzy curly thin but course hair. I’ve spent thousands on hair care products promising to give me beautiful hair. I was at my wits end, and was reading articles online and decided to do the strand test. My hair floated, which indicates low porosity. Who would have thought all these problems I was experiencing with dryness, frizz, & poofy-ness was associated with porosity. I used this line along with the conditioner, and I don’t think my hair has ever felt this normal or smooth since I was a child. I’m so happy I could cry. The smell is fine, it could smell like dog poo and I wouldn’t care because of the results of how awesome my hair feels and looks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shampoo...great fragrance This shampoo is amazing! The fragrance is so beautiful...and it lasts throughout the day. Many comments on how good my hair smells! It is gentle enough to use daily on my long hair. I also use the conditioner daily which doesn’t leave a gummy or heavy feeling. Perfect product!

My hair is low porosity, but after a protein treatment it is always very soft and shiny. Is it possible to be low porosity but not protein sensitive at the same time? I have 2b/c thin and fine wavy hair which is dry. Which product do you recommend?

Asked by: Ági123
Hi Agi123, Normally with low porosity hair, protein can feel heavy on hair. It is possible though for some users to not be as affected by protein as others. The Baobab & Tea Tree Oils Low porosity is a great line, but another option is our 100% Virgin Coconut Oil collection: https://www.sheamoisture.com/products/hair.html?product_collection=361

What criteria should i use to pick between this and the fruit fusion shampoo? They both seem to be made for similar hair.

Asked by: Muskan
Our Fruit Fusion & Coconut Water line is a great way to add texture and weightless moisture to fine to medium hair. Our Low Porosity Baobab & Tea Tree Oils line is a great option for protein-sensitive hair that needs help with getting moisturized!

I just did the porosity test using the glass of water and I found out that I have low porosity so now I will start using hair products for low porosity hair. And I’m confused why the product is “protein-free”, could you please explain?

Asked by: adriana
Low porosity hair strands have closed cuticles. With this hair type, it is difficult for moisture to enter the hair strands but what moisture does get absorbed, it can be retained. Many users try to stay away from using protein as the protein will further keep those cuticles sealed, preventing hydration. Users with this porosity experience slow drying time, difficult to style, and may see buildup.

I've been using this shampoo twice now. It really feels like it's cleaning my hair but they feel dry and hardly manageable when I brush them under shower (while it didn't with other shampoos). Is it because of the cleaning power ?

Asked by: Eve C
If this product is drying your hair out we recommend using a small amount of the shampoo and always following this up with a conditioner from roots to ends. Please also check out our online tool at www.amillionwaystoshea.com for recommendations based on your hair type and needs.
