Rated 3 out of 5 by from ALMOST perfect except for SMELL I have low porosity 2b/2c hair and after having tried Shea Moisture's other products in the past, I was excited to try out this new line. I liked the menthol feel from the mint and my hair turned out feeling lightweight and looking shiny afterwards... but I could not get past the SMELL. It smells like the cheap perfume spray cans from the dollar store with the heavy grandma scent. I am a person who feels nausea from strong scents like Gardenia, Honeysuckle, and Pine smells, so this was a no-go for me, especially since it is a very strong, long-lasting and lingering scent even after having dried and styled my hair. Unfortunately, I will be returning this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HG Product!!! I have a ton of thin, super wavy, dry hair that I could never tame because nothing I tried was able to moisturizer my hair and clean my roots/scalp of build up like I needed. I had tried everything from high end to low end, natural products to salon, even home remedies and nothing worked. If I cleansed my hair of buildup My ends would be dry and brittle, so I would need to add a ton of oils and creams and styling products to get my hair nice looking but that caused buildup and created a vicious cycle. It was only after I had discovered porosity as an issue for my hair (never absorbed color) and trying this line of products that things changed. My hair is so health, manageable, and growing so much faster! It's also nice not having to buy a ton of styling products to get the look and feel that just the shampoo and conditioner provide. And my routine take so much less time! I hope so much that they never discontinue this line because this is the ONLY thing that works for my 2c curls.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for men Smells horrible like grannys perfume from the 99 cents store. Very strong and offensive odor. Definitely cannot be used by if you're a guy. Most Shea products have similar perfume smells so you might want to stay away from them all together. If this product was fragrance free or had a gender neutral smell I would probably use it daily, but this bottle is going in the trash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUST HAVE! I have been a Shea Moisture fan for years and this is one of the best shampoo for CG low pororsity girls. I have 3a/3b curls, medium fine, long, high density hair. My scalp feels clean, tingly and cool for days at a time. I use this shampoo once a week, if I am washing more than once a week, I switch it off with Marfura Oil Hydration Shampoo.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Effective but not great Overall the shampoo and conditioner work for my low porosity protein sensitive hair but for some reason my hair hates the leave in. The products would be even better if they did not have aloe vera, apricot oil, baobab, clary, glycerin, jojoba oil, and panthenol(to some extent this products either contain some amount of protein and/or suck moisture out of the hair). And if they added a deep conditioner and moisturizer to the line(that's all I ask).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At Last!!! I cannot explain my joy of this product. After viewing 1000's of YouTube reviews on natural hair care. I finally figured out my hair. I sent my wet hair picture to my daughter in GA, I am in CA, and her stylist just by looking determined I had 3c 4a hair. She was right, but I still did not under stand all of the extreme shedding of my hair. Then I finally started doing the math. Coconut oil, evoo oil, and any of a variety of a mixture of oils just did not work. THEN...protein, my hair snapped crackled and popped from the combination of these products. So last week I finally googled low porosity, protein sensitive hair, and I hit the jackpot. After my two year journey of breaking, snapping and popping my thin hair I was afraid of going bald. Last night I tried the Shea Moisture Baobab & Tea Tree oils Low Porosity Protein Free Shampoo, the Baobab & Tea Tree Oils Low Porosity Protein Free Conditioner, and the Baobab & Tea Tree Oils Low Porosity Protein Free Leave In Detangler. These were like miracle working products for my hair. I have found my products. I loved how my scalped tingled, and smelled and how the detangler helped with the breaking of my hair. I was ecstatic, nearly bouncing off the walls. Thank you, thank you Shea Moisture makers. I hope this is a long term relationship, so that I can stop searching for just the right product. Mainly because I like just one product, not a concoction of 25 steps to get the results I got with your 3 products. Although the products did define my curl pattern, very nicely, I was wondering do you think you will ever add a curl definer to the mighty trio?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Shampoo for my hair! I have natural wavy/curly hair that I have been fighting to find the right products for. After much research I know my hair is low porosity and VERY protein sensitive. My hair is fine and highlighted so tangles easily. This shampoo made my hair and scalp feel so clean, did not dry my hair out, nor did it add to the tangles. Absolutely love this shampoo! I bought the conditioner as well but the scent is so overwhelming and it doesn't give my hair enough moisture and not enough slip to help with the tangles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Shampoo Works on my Low Porosity Hair At first I was reluctant because I pictured my hair full of tangles but once I tried this shampoo I was able to run my fingers through my hair and no tangles. Yes I was and still am amazed at this product. Thank You!

Hi, I believe I have low porosity hair, it's always dry. I'm going to try this shea line but I haven't seen a product for daily use. I have 3c-4a/b hair, what kind of product do you recommend for daily use for moisturised low porosity hair?

Asked by: Jiska
Hi, We recommend using the Protein-Free Leave-in Detangler from this line for daily moisture and detangling, we also recommend checking out our Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Transitioning Milk, this product is a lightweight cream that will lock in moisture for your low porosity hair.

Is this good for cleansing a beard? Do you have beard products? My boyfriend is breaking out under his beard and needs a good product that won't inhibit beard growth. Thanks

Asked by: Chastity
Hi Chastity, The Baobab & Tea Tree Oils Low Porosity Protein-Free Shampoo is great for moisturizing and cleansing beards especially if he has low porosity hair strands. We do have a beard set as well in the Maracuja Oil & Shea Butter line: https://www.sheamoisture.com/products/men.html?product_collection=405&cat=102.

I am thinking about using this low porosity line of shea moisture. I have used a myriad of products but nothing seems to make it soft. What styling products would your recommend for my 4c hair that would go along with the low po line?

Asked by: Ronnie434
Hello Ronnie434 Would recommend our Raw Shea Butter line as it does not contain protein. Those with low porosity hair are protein sensitive and this line does not contain protein. This collection moisturizes and repairs lifeless dry, damaged or over-processed natural hair.
