Rated 1 out of 5 by Quinn from No longer sensitive skin friendly. Stay away. SheaMoisture does it again. There's a certain crowd that likes the /idea/ of this company's products but hates the smell of its core ingredients. They want everything to remind them of the heavy, synthetic, floral scents they're used to, and they don't care if products need to be spiked with extremely allergenic essential oil blends to match that. That crowd has triumphed over SheaMoisture's former commitment to skin health, as far as I can tell. I have sensitive skin. Like actually sensitive skin. I've had either acne or severe allergic reactions to many big name company's "sensitive skin" products, quickly realizing they were such in name only. Sheamoisture used to be different. It is not anymore. Over the past few years, I've seen several formerly great products I relied on get reformulated, always to appeal to the above crowd, always becoming unusable afterwards. This is one such case. I'm somehow getting a mix of hives and acne from just a few days of using this new formula. I think we can just call this company's dedication to people with sensitive skin dead at this point, if this line of products, previously one of the last belt hold outs, has been compromised.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Megan from New name and formula isn’t as good I had been using the Problem Skin moisturizer For years and it definitely played a huge roll in keeping my skin more clear than ever. I realized they changed the name and formula recently when i picked up this new container and i have to say, I’m so disappointed. My skin hasn’t suffered from breakouts since i started my now regular skin care routine of African black soap and moisturizer 5 years ago, but after 3 nights of using this new formula i have insane breakouts all over my cheeks and forehead. I’ve been searching high and low for the older version and really wish they’d bring it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sarah from Best for dry skin (you will have amazing results)! I actually have very dry skin to were I’m constantly red from tightness. And to make the matters worse I had a combination of cystic acne and white heads. But with every new moisturizer it made my face worse. Though with constant changing around my skin care routine. I found a perfect combination: cleanser(Pacifica kale detox), toner(pixie glow), and moisturizer ( the African black soap moisturizer). The lotion is targeted for oily skin but to be honest it works amazingly well with my dry skin. My skin is clear and actually hydrated!! Also I put it around my eyes and no discomfort, and dryness!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lauren from Worst Skincare Product For Me I am 16 and I have fairly clear skin. Other than some texture my skin is usually free from more than one or two pimples. I tried this moisturizer last year when my skin was dry during the winter and it completely destroyed my skin. Little pimples that were already there turned into huge whiteheads. Recently I thought I might give it another shot since it may have been another product that was causing me to breakout. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. My skin went from being perfectly clear to having 10+ large, red pimples and small bumps are all over my face. I have never used a product that has ruined my skin as badly as this one has. I usually never write reviews for products but I don't want anyone to have to feel the way I do about their skin after using this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Meghan from Why did you change this product? This used to be my go-to moisturizer. My skin is extremely sensitive and easily breaks out. This used to be on the product to I could rely on to keep my skin clear and moisturized. Not in more. It no longe absorbs well instad it leaves a film. On top of that, the fragrance has changed. It used to have a clean fresh, not it has a sweet scent that makes me nauseated and gives me a headache. Why do companies insist on ruining good products I do not know!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Darkrose from Used to be the best moisturizer for oily skin This was my go to moisturizer until recently when I noticed my face breaking out after buying a new container. I did some investigating and realized that they now use coconut oil in their moisturizer. I have oily acne prone skin and coconut oil doesn't help with that rather than make oily skin extra oily I can honestly say I was upset. I'm now using the Nubian Heritage African black soap moisturizer with NO coconut oil and my acne has cleared up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MoxyFoxtrot from SOMETHING CHANGED I have been using this for years. I love it so much, I bought two more jars just to make sure I had extra when I ran out. Something is different though. The new jar has a musty smell to it, and is much more thick and pasty, as opposed to my first jar which was creamy lotion and a wonderful tea tree smell. I won't be buying any more, I can't stand this new smell and how thick and heavy it feels now. This is terrible and heartbreaking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Olivia from Not lightweight but seriously moisturizing This product is extremely thick and like another reviewer said pasty. It can make your skin feel heavy and somewhat oily too so I don't regularly use it like I should. I also mix the product with a few drops of Rosehip Oil so the product is easier to apply. Without it, it feels like I'm dragging it across my face. With these qualities, I only use it at night sometimes or when my skin needs lots of moisture. But, I am using the African Black Soap Clear & Balance Problem Skin Facial System for cystic acne and I have seen a decent improvement.

Hi, I’m using the moisturizer of african black soap and I’m an athlete so I train in mornings and nights so I bath more than I time a day, It says that this is a 24 hour moisturizer but should I apply after or before I train, or more than one time a day?
We recommend re-applying this product after showering to maintain a healthy moisture barrier on your skin. This can be used more than once a day if needed!

Hi! Will this product clog my pores and is it gluten free?
This product should not clog pores, but everyone's skin is different. Ingredients like charcoal, African black soap and tea tree oil help to balance the oils in your skin to prevent future breakouts and keep skin moisturized. This product contains oat extract and is not considered gluten-free. We recommend checking out our Green Coconut & Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Jelly Cream which is a light weight oil-free moisturizer to help minimize the appearance of pores!

I love this line for my combination, acne-prone skin. However, I'm concerned that there isn't any SPF in the moisturizer. Do you have any suggestions as to what type of SPF to follow up with so as not to lose the benefits of this moisturizer?
We recommend using a SPF that is suitable for your skin type, one that is oil-free would be a great option to use alongside this product to avoid overloading your skin with moisture.

I started using the whole line 4 days ago and i love it but why does the moisturizer make me oily ?
This product contains oils to help naturally moisturize skin, we recommend checking out a lighter weight moisturizer like our African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal Gelee Moisturizer for a more balanced feel!

Does this product contain raw shea butter or refined Shea Butter?
Our Raw Shea Butter is Handcrafted, unrefined by our Community Commerce cooperatives . Hand crafting preserves more fatty acids than industrial processing, so it is considered a better quality ingredient.

I just open my moisturizer and the texture isn’t like a cream or lotion like I’m not sure if it went bad or what. What should the moisturizer feel like
The texture of our products can vary due to different weather and soil conditions affecting our natural ingredients. If you feel this product to be defective we recommend exchanging it at the retailer you purchased from.

Is this moisturizer non comedogenic ?
We have not yet tested our moisturizers to be non-comedogenic and cannot claim it to be. However, ingredients like tea tree oil, tamarind extract, and African black soap are great to help balance the oils in your skin and rid pores of impurities.
