Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the vegan, effective formula! I love this lotion on my oily skin. I use it as a night cream because it is pretty thick. I like that it is sticky and my only issue is that it dries fast but that’s actually helping my oily control! Would have given it 5 stars but I have only used it a few weeks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ** Sigh ** Please bring back the old formula, what an amazing product that was. Can't even use the new formula, you are losing so many loyal customers!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NEW INGREDIENTS WITH MULTIPLE ALCOHOLS This seems to be a very diluted rough attempt to substitute the natural formula that existed before. If anyone knows of a good dupe of the previous formula before that changed it, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from PLEASE bring back the old formula I used to love this product when it was called "Problem Skin moisturizer". The formula was amazing on my skin and really helped my skin. I used to suffer frequently from breakouts, particularly in my cheek area. Once i started using this in combination with the black soap bar, my skin was completely clear all the time. I used this new formula once and immediately broke out. I tried using it for about 3 weeks as i thought maybe it was a coincidence or just taking some time to get used to it, but my skin broke out worse than it has in YEARS. I was able to find some of the older formula still on shelves of stores and switched back, and my breakouts ended completely again. I am so upset they changed the formula to include COCONUT OIL which is known ingredient to clog pores. I am now hunting down all the Problem Skin moisturizers I can still find but once those are completely gone I will no longer use Shea Moisturizer. This USED TO BE an amazing product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! The only moisturizer that has consistently worked on my face without irritating it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA! This used to be an AMAZING product when it was called the "problem skin" moisturizer. Well they rebranded it to "balancing" moisturizer which is great, but they needed to leave the formula alone. BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA, WE BEG OF YOU!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No longer sensitive skin friendly. Stay away. SheaMoisture does it again. There's a certain crowd that likes the /idea/ of this company's products but hates the smell of its core ingredients. They want everything to remind them of the heavy, synthetic, floral scents they're used to, and they don't care if products need to be spiked with extremely allergenic essential oil blends to match that. That crowd has triumphed over SheaMoisture's former commitment to skin health, as far as I can tell. I have sensitive skin. Like actually sensitive skin. I've had either acne or severe allergic reactions to many big name company's "sensitive skin" products, quickly realizing they were such in name only. Sheamoisture used to be different. It is not anymore. Over the past few years, I've seen several formerly great products I relied on get reformulated, always to appeal to the above crowd, always becoming unusable afterwards. This is one such case. I'm somehow getting a mix of hives and acne from just a few days of using this new formula. I think we can just call this company's dedication to people with sensitive skin dead at this point, if this line of products, previously one of the last belt hold outs, has been compromised.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New name and formula isn’t as good I had been using the Problem Skin moisturizer For years and it definitely played a huge roll in keeping my skin more clear than ever. I realized they changed the name and formula recently when i picked up this new container and i have to say, I’m so disappointed. My skin hasn’t suffered from breakouts since i started my now regular skin care routine of African black soap and moisturizer 5 years ago, but after 3 nights of using this new formula i have insane breakouts all over my cheeks and forehead. I’ve been searching high and low for the older version and really wish they’d bring it back.

Why did you completely change the formula for this product? I just ran out of my problem skin moisturizer to see this replace it. The ingredients are completely different. Why would I believe this should yield the same results?

Asked by: NGray
Where we have tweaked formulas it’s been to address supplier issues, to respond to consumer feedback or to make improvements, never to change efficacy. This product contains the same key ingredients that help balance the oils in your skin, shea butter, african black soap and tea tree oil all help blemish-prone skin to prevent breakouts. We appreciate your feedback/question and hope this answer was helpful <3

Hi, I’m using the moisturizer of african black soap and I’m an athlete so I train in mornings and nights so I bath more than I time a day, It says that this is a 24 hour moisturizer but should I apply after or before I train, or more than one time a day?

Asked by: Juliedys
We recommend re-applying this product after showering to maintain a healthy moisture barrier on your skin. This can be used more than once a day if needed!

Hi! Will this product clog my pores and is it gluten free?

Asked by: anna
This product should not clog pores, but everyone's skin is different. Ingredients like charcoal, African black soap and tea tree oil help to balance the oils in your skin to prevent future breakouts and keep skin moisturized. This product contains oat extract and is not considered gluten-free. We recommend checking out our Green Coconut & Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Jelly Cream which is a light weight oil-free moisturizer to help minimize the appearance of pores!

I love this line for my combination, acne-prone skin. However, I'm concerned that there isn't any SPF in the moisturizer. Do you have any suggestions as to what type of SPF to follow up with so as not to lose the benefits of this moisturizer?

Asked by: Tiffany
We recommend using a SPF that is suitable for your skin type, one that is oil-free would be a great option to use alongside this product to avoid overloading your skin with moisture.

I started using the whole line 4 days ago and i love it but why does the moisturizer make me oily ?

Asked by: Alysia5
This product contains oils to help naturally moisturize skin, we recommend checking out a lighter weight moisturizer like our African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal Gelee Moisturizer for a more balanced feel!

Does this product contain raw shea butter or refined Shea Butter?

Asked by: Jessdamara
Our Raw Shea Butter is Handcrafted, unrefined by our Community Commerce cooperatives . Hand crafting preserves more fatty acids than industrial processing, so it is considered a better quality ingredient.
