Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment I ADORE Shea Moisture's hair stuff and was SO excited to try this. Favorite scent, I was looking for a new cleansing oil, sensitive skin--sign me up! HUGE mistake. Instant burning, splotchiness, redness, itching, especially eyes and cheeks as others have mentioned. For me at least, the culprit is probably the cheap geranium oil used in the "essential oils" that are not spelled out. I'm allergic to it, and mistakenly assumed a company whose products are otherwise so good would also spell out their ingredients honestly... not so much. Geranium is often used as filler to pump up rose fragrance since it's much cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learned to love it After the first use, my face was a bit red and splotchy. I wasn't too sure about the calming effects of this product or if it was right for me. I tried it a few more times and I'm so glad I did! I think the initial redness was the cleanser healing the dry, irritated spots. By the the third use, the redness was gone and so were the persistent dry, flaky patches on my forehead. I've been treating them with coconut oil for a long time with minimal results, but they are completely gone now! The cleanser also does a fantastic job of removing makeup (I still use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup), cleaning and my tightening pores, and brightening my skin. My skin texture is so much smoother now that I actually use significantly less makeup. This is a miracle product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is amazing; but be careful I am truly convinced sheamoisture will replace all of my skin/body/hair in the future, they just can do no harm. This cleanser leaves your skin feeling clean but not dry, it's leaves no oily residue and I've noticed how clearer my skin has been since using this product. I will say say that you need to be extremely careful around the eyes. It doesn't irritate the skin near the eyes but if this even slightly gets into your eye, you will experience excruciating pain. I would not wish that pain upon any of my enemies. I can look past that since when I do use it near my eyes I'm careful or I just remove my eye makeup with something else . Overall though, this is the thanks sheamoisture :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from almost a homerun... I was SO excited to see this at my local target--I have been oil cleansing for years, but sometimes you just don't want to use the whole washcloth oil cleansing method, and emulsifying oil cleansers like this are a lifesaver! Unfortunately, I think the formulation isn't quite perfect for sensitive skin. I could tell from my first use that I needed to be careful around my eye area to avoid stinging, so if I wore eye makeup I needed a separate step to get that off. Tonight, I used the cleanser for a little longer than usual (maybe 1 minute total) because I was wearing heavy sunscreen I wanted to be sure to get off. After rinsing, the area around my eyes was really red. It faded fast so I don't believe I caused permanent damage, but I don't think I can use this product without fear I am damaging the delicate skin around my eyes. I compared the cleanser ingredients to my previous one by One Love Organics, and I have a couple of theories regarding the irritation. It could be the emulsifiers, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate--they seem like overall safe ingredients, but the concentration may be too high. Also, the essential oil fragrance blend is VERY high on the list of ingredients (when choosing products I like to see it listed at the end, not the middle.) EO's like rose can be great for skin, but they are so potent a little is all you need! I love Shea Moisture and I am leaving this review in the hopes that they can consider my feedback for future products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this I suffer from mild Rosacea and it was getting worse (with age obviously) and Iv'e tried expensive products that claim to calm the redness but it never failed. Every morning I would use (insert expensive product) and my skin would be even more annoyed. Even "natural" products weren't helping. So I saw this at Target, didn't really think much of it, I was running out of my expensive stuff and really didn't want to re-purchase so I bought this...and within a week, my face redness had reduced, seriously! I still have some redness but honestly in comparison to the way it was before...I wish I would have taken a before and after picture. The second best part about it...$10. This has been my savior. Thank you! Also I ended up buying the whole PeaceOil complex line. Love it. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product!! I have acne prone dry skin and this oil cleanses my skin and helps with clarity. Try this product!! It is an oil cleaner and affordable compared to other oil cleansers I have tried and it does what it's supposed to do! When using this cleaner to take off my make up, it takes it off in one pump of cleanser. You just have to massage it into your skin and your mascara and after one rinse you can see all your make up is gone! I'll be using this for awhile and trust me I'm rarely satisfied with products. In terms of acne I still have to exfoliate my face which I use the African black soap exfoliant twice a week with this cleanser and they work very well together. My skin is sensitive and dry so this helps with redness and dryness and does not irritate my skin. I use the shea moistue argan oil after I use the cleanser and it's the best face routine I could ask for!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from :( Was a bit disappointed in this product, considering how much I love their hair products. I don't like the smell of this at all - even after rinsing it off, the smell would linger on my face for awhile after. This wouldn't be a bad thing at all if I didn't absolutely detest the smell of it. The label says it's great for gently cleaning off make-up, but I couldn't seem to keep the product from burning my eyes badly, even after I had tried deliberately avoiding my eye areas. Better luck with another face wash that is gentler with my skin and doesn't leave my eyes red and irritated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Sensitive, Rosacea prone skin I found about about this product via a recommendation on the Shea Moisture Facebook page. As chance would have it, my skin was having a rosacea flare at the time of purchase. After 3 days of continuous use, the redness was completely gone. After 5 days of continuous use, all the rosacea related break outs were healed and gone! The product is extremely soothing for sensitive skin, and leaves it feeling clean, refreshed, soft, and skin texture is much smoother. My only caveat is that if the cleanser is used in the eye area, it can sting. I have noticed that this issue has decreased over time with my skin, so not sure if that is a sensitivity issue or strength of essential oils in product. I would highly recommend this product if you have rosacea, sensitive skin - it is just as good as promised to me by the Shea Moisture staff on Facebook! Plus the price point can't be beat and the ingredients are all natural!
